the missing pieces

to all brides to be, what is the first thing cross your mind, when word WEDDING is uttered?

i'm sure, each and everyone will have their own thoughts and opinions and imagination about wedding.

for me, the first thing that came to my mind is...

family and friends,

and a pleasant feeling of happiness.

just two. only two.

those two, combined, will somehow give a feeling, as i would like to describe as having a mug of hot chocolate and very comfortable, cozy blanket in a very cold and nasty winter night.that is a pure content feeling. that is something that make you feel complete, like nothing else matters.

maybe my annotation might be simple, but that is how simple is my first thought of a wedding.

i don't mind whether my wedding is big, or whether my wedding will be an extravaganza event. i just hope that it will run smoothly, and everyone is happy.my family.and.my friends.

with that, of course, i want them to be there, on the happiest day of my life.

but I know that everything that we want, not all we can have. I know that, I know that, I keep reminding myself of that. One thing I know is that my sister cannot be there, during my big day *huuuuuu* I also know that it due to a good cause. When she mentioned that she cannot make it (she's in UK btw), I had this heavy feeling in my heart and my eyes suddenly filled with tears. It's not that I am angry nor I am sad. I just feel that something will be/is missing. My eldest sister is my inspiration, one of the cores of my big day. It will be weird if I do not have the feeling that I was feeling that time.

I even once had this weird dream, I just woke up from sleep, I went downstairs and heard lots of noise. Someone is yapping instructing something to other people at back room downstairs. That kind of sound seriously sounded like my bossy sister (in a good way of course heh), but in my mind was 'Hey, she is not in Malaysia, that can't be her!' But when I reached the room, there she was, like she always is, cleaning up the house while making noise (haha). Seeing her there, made me surprised. Then, I woke up from the dream. Haishh. *Sad*

I am sorry to have that kind bitter feeling, when I know, I truly know that it's due to a good cause. It's a PhD, for godsake! Who can just abandon it just like that, especially when you're in the mid of the research. I know my sister wouldn't! She is not that type. Although she will not be here, I really glad she helped a lot since the beginning of the preparation, and during the engagement event until now. That was done thru thanks to today's technology, the phone and the internet! Anything is possible! Thanks so so much sister!

After I can take in the news, I am happy. Although that my sister is far across the world, she still managed to comment my tudung didn't match with my top haha! What I'm really saying is, the most important of all, somehow she is still near to us, at heart :)

This is one weird long post about feelings and wedding. Big sis, if you're reading this, no pressure please! This is a post just to let you know that you are appreciated even you are far away. No need to book any ticket, coz I'm not paying anything, your sister here is br*ke! hahaha. Coz like I said before and I am saying now, I understand, we understand :). We love you sis! Take care!

xoxo

tipah tertipu....ke!?!

An update on the wedding preparation progress.

We think (my mother and i) that we have been tricked/conned/fooled by the person who promised to do some wedding printing jobs.

haiyo2....

Let's named him Mr. H. He is his early 30's and doing advertising business. Apart from that, he is also doing business in making wedding cards, printing for small cards, buntings and printing for door gifts. He claimed he has been in the business for more than 5 years already (so much for the experience huh?). When we were discussing, he talked alot about his business and who had hired his company including the royal family (need a bold there) and bla..bla..bla. I guess that time, we were bought by his appealing stories. Without much hesitation, we made up our mind to make a business deal with this guy.

So, he promised us he will do our thank you cards and buntings. He had completed the design for the cards and my mom had approved the design. Then he promised he will complete the printing by last week and my mom should come and collect them. Btw, he promised to email me the design but I didn't receive any. But, nevermind, as long as my mom already approved it, so should be ok (although I think that is unprofessional, gave promises but never delivered them hurmmph!). Good thing is, my mom still haven't paid anything to him. Alhamdulillah. He didn't ask for any. So yeah, we have not been conned with money, but with promises.

Back to the story, when the time came to collect the item, my mom tried to call him but he didn't pick up his phone. Even the office's phone had no answer. My mom and I tried so many days to call him but still didn't get any feedback. My mom was furious and went to his office but it was closed, with padlock and everything. Sigh. Have we been sweet talked by this person?

Until today, there is still no answer from this guy. Lucky, lucky, there is no money involved yet. But of course, we are frustrated. Obviously, we want everything that we have planned to run as smoothly as possible. This, however will delay our other plans. Now, we have to find another vendor and start all over again dealing for these items. My mom will be busy with this. She's the backbone of this whole preparation, I truly really appreciate it! I LOVE U MAMA!!

I pray hard everything else will turn out well. Insya Allah.
Pray for us yeah :)

Doa

I was too busy with life, and haven't got the chance to update the blog. Haish.
Anyhow, the last post I wanted to post something, but I guess that have to wait. I have written something and now it is still kept in the Draft section. Ok, maybe later I will complete it and post it.

Too many things had happened to me since last week. Unfortunate events. Sigh.

I don't know why all the bad things are coming towards me nowadays, but one thing for sure it's the trial from the Almighty. I know I am not strong, but I pray to Him all the time to give me strength. As a Muslim, I accept the fact there's fate, Qada' and Qadar and I know also that He will not give any trial that I cannot handle. I understand and I accept that. But, all I need now is strength. Ya Allah berikanlah aku kekuatan dan jauhkanlah aku dari kesesatan.

And that is how I am seeking the strength.

With do'a.

Coming soon...

Jeng...jeng...jeng...
another post...coming soon!

Resolution 2011

I realized I tend to write when I'm feeling low and sad. I rarely write if I am in a light mood and happy, because I *think* usually become so overwhelmed with happy moments and I do not bother to share with everyone my excitement.

Therefore, as you can see, my posts on blogs (plural=including my past blogs)are usually about the cryings, the moodiness (I don't know if there's such a word) the sadness, the stress and everything about the 'bad-hair-day' kind of thing. Although undeniably my mood is quite unstable sometimes (you can ask my other half about that), I *think* am not that really emo person, I can be fun sometimes (haha, ok ini sudah perasan). But I want to be a fun person! I don't want to be sad all the time, and trying to be positive. Although it is REALLY hard as I am in this hardcore masters programe,I hope I can improve. No more mellow2!!

Okey that will be one resolution for this year!

happy 9months!

today is the 9th month that we have been together. yipppeeee! alhamdulillah. It should be a happy day but it didn't turn quiet well :(

The presentation today went okey but later on I discovered something that made me sad. A friend (at least that's what I thought)was trying to make me looked real bad during my presentation. I don't want to discuss it here, but that incident made me real sad and angry at the same time. So sad that I called mylove and cried to him. Being sweet as he is, he was trying to console me. But he was busy and I was too, so the conversation stopped there. Later that evening, I went to the mall with a friend to look for A THING for mylove. That's was the main purpose of going to the mall even tough I was sleep deprived from staying up late last night, I was excited because it's for him. But, my excitement just stopped there when another incident happened and made me cry. AGAIN.
I'm not so much a cry baby, but today, I guess, is my crying day.

*happy crying day everyone*

Laughing at my self!

It's been a loooooooooong time since I write an entry in a blog. I stumbled onto this old blog while I had nothing to on the internet. It's been two years since I last blogged! If I had kid by then, he or she will be running around and speaks continously by now. But, of course, that is just an example, because I'm still childless and also unmarried. haha. Two years, two freaking yearssss!! Too much had happened in two years. Joys and tears. Sigh~ I won't be writing bout all of it, of course, it will take another two years to finish (you know, my writing rate right?)

Oh, I was laughing at myself just now when I read all the previous entries. If you're wondering, I haven't changed alot since the past two years. Still the same old me. I will blog whenever I can. (Hope so!)

When Beauty Has Its Own Class

Beauty- Honestly, what first came up to your mind, when the word is said?

Someone might straight away think about the top models with the long legs, sexy eyes, or the Hollywood or even Bollywood superstars with those branded dresses. One might perceive beauty as any object or nature -untouched island or the black shiny Cayman S Porsche. It might also be an animal, a horse maybe? Or some might reflect this word to their own girlfriends. Few will lost their imaginations to porn stars..oho..lets not get to that, okey?

Whatever it is, one idiom that I never can't deny, is this;

"Beauty is in the eye of beholder"

Enough said. Whatever or whoever that you think is beautiful might not be the one I agree with. Vice versa. Even if I ever try to convince you that little frogs are pretty creatures, most of you will never agree with me. Right? So there you go, different people with different opinions. Even the fools will give a nod to that.

Let's get into what I think of the word beauty.

For human beings, it doesn't matter, a man or woman, I will see a person's beauty through their confidence. It really is a broad term isn't it? To make it simple, it is the way a person handles her/himself. Their body gestures, the way of they talk, their eye contact, how they carry and take care of themselves. So, it's not always about the two inches make-up that a person wore or the Coach bag they carry or the Armani suit they got. No matter what you wear, if your confidence shows, your beauty will show.

But of course, the confidence is not the only thing you needed to be beautiful. The beauty will straight away shine if it truly comes from the heart. A good heart that is. Good deeds, loving and respectable characteristics, permanent pleasant smile, being decent and polite etc..all the good words I may add. No one will match the word beauty to a person with a stuck up nose, talk nonsensically without thinking about others, unfriendly and always think that the world is theirs and theirs only. Because, really, a good heart can be seen through the look on the outside.

It is not fair, how beauty is perceived in the world today. For a woman to be thought as beautiful, she needs to have at least these characteristics; big shiny eyes, broad forehead, a nice pointed nose, pouty lips, clear, fair and flawless skin- those are only for the face. What about the body? If is still not that obvious, only those skinny women are now said to be beautiful. Not all people, were born to have these characteristics. Hence, most women with thick pockets (or their husband's) often want to change God's creation by offensive surgery with one goal in mind- to look beautiful. They bear the aftermath pain because they couldn't bear the word ugly. Who is to decide that you are ugly, by the way? There is never a measure of beauty ever created. Is there any electronic ruler to poke at your face, and it suddenly rate 1-10 whether you're at lowest 0 as ugly and at rate 10 which is beautiful? Not that I've ever heard of! Even the thought of it sounds ridiculous. Don't you think so?

Enough about the definition I guess. Back to the real motive that I have in my mind when I decided to write about this topic. Beauty, whatever you want it to perceive, is scope that often people want to put set aside. But as for today, without us realizing, it has become a broad spectrum and it can even become an industry. Beauty industry, what a name! heh. Look at the magazines, newspapers, internet, photography, cosmetics..all those have one thing in common, they always have beauty as a middle name. Beauty also need to be learned that is why they have beauty classes if you haven't realized yet.

Yes, a beauty class...which I have enrolled in. *blush*

Laugh as hard as you like, but I wouldn't deny it. I believe that everything in this world has to be learned...even to look nice. The whole idea to get into this didn't come abruptly although the enrolling part was a bit spontaneous. I have grabbed the opportunity to learn this when I first heard about it and since I still have some free time. For some of you who never heard of this kind of class, this is where you learn specific techniques to do facial, face massage, make-ups, manicure, pedicure, spa and body massage. The classes run every working day from 9- 4pm. Students here are trained to become beautician and after 3-6months of training, they will be able to open up a saloon or a spa.

The main reason why I was called to take up the lesson by of course, to learn the techniques. I believe that every woman needs to be able to take care of themselves. Undeniably, every woman wants to look pretty, but as I said earlier, pretty doesn't come from just your look but from inside, that is your confidence. This is one way, how women can learn to take care of themselves. I also believe that the confidence appear after you have taken measures to care about how you look and carry yourself. Most of us don't want to ignore how you present yourself in public because the first impression always count, wherever you're at. Thus, these knowledge can help us to reform ourselves towards a better one, pursue whatever in life, with the confidence to start with.

Another lesson I've learned in this industry is that you have to be thankful of whatever you have. Cosmetic surgery isn't the answer. Just one thing to bare in mind, that pretty look on your face is never yours, it is just a gift from God, and anytime He can take away from you, even just in a split second. Be thankful to Him, everytime you pray, and everytime you look in the mirror. Never in your heart there is a proud feeling of what you have because it is not what you have, but one thing you borrow. Just remember one day, you will be returned to Him. Let this be the lesson for you and me :)

Post-Exam Post

Warning! This is an emo post! (don't say I didn't warn you =p)

Alhamdulillah, finally the time that I have been waiting for has arrived. Exams over!!... which means no more sleepless nights, overdosing of caffeine, overindulging into the notes, restless days at the library, over worrying of uncovered chapters, ignorance to surroundings, take away foods, yeah all those things....

Four exciting years..... This is how I am gonna describe it:

It just feels like when you start reading a novel, you would love to know the ending, but you just know that you couldn't. You know that the journey of the story is too long, still the challenges and the excitement keeps you going. The story may carry you into an emotional burden or the tiring life-puzzles. The sweetness of happy moments. The most uninteresting chapter. It brings you in contact the problems or the crazy time. Failures and success. All things, one after another, creating a whole colorful picture in your photographic memory. It seems like it's gonna take a long time or even ages, before you can finally reach the end, but still you wait. And wait. You still carry on. Whatever comes, you know you're finally gonna reach there.

Half-way through, you make use what you have known. You create imaginations. So much you wanted in the story. Chapter after chapter you keep reading, it brings new different experience. None of the same moments.

Finally when you reach the last chapter, you know deep inside.... it's gonna end soon. However the ending will be, it still gonna bring you to the last dot. Obviously, everyone wants a happy ending, at least thats what normal human would wish for. You tried hard to imagine what the ending would be, but at the end, you know cannot change the fate. A happy or a bad ending? You'll never know.

Whatever the ending will be, the most important is what the long journey has made you. The changes that are created, the wisdom you gained, the lessons you learned, the friends you made, the flaws you see, the strength you developed, the love you generate, the hatred you avert, the moments you lost, the memories that remains...all those really matters. That makes you stop and ponder, instead of hovering over the ending, looks what you have gained so much more at this story of life.

Then you when finally reach there, you would read the last sentence. It may makes you to put on your smile. Or it can make you cry. You may give a long sigh. Or you feel like shredding the whole book. It might make you laugh (either a happy or evil). You may grin the whole day or even beam. It might be expected. Or you already expecting the unexpected.

Anyhow, what most matters to you is the memory. All those good memories.

You hopped over the last dot. You know the ending. You closed the book.

Ready on for another new story of life.

OLD...update!!

Salam people!

I know it's been ages since the previous post. Thanks for the frequent visitors who are kind enough to pop in here and finding out that there's no new update.. ngehehe. The reason is as usual, I'm too lazy to write.

But I'll made up to you guys by first telling you this amusing story of my embarrassing moment I had on the bus just now.

On the way back from uni, I got on the bus that was quiet full. Lucky enough I got a place at front the bus and sit comfortably. Then, the bus went to pick up more passengers including this one lady in her 60's (I think). She has fake blonde hair and was wearing this huge funky sunnies, with a tight pants and stylish white top, oh not forgetting to mention the striking makeup-a bright red lips and thick foundation-covered skin. So, with that look she doesn't seem to be like 60 years old. As there are no seat left, she had to stand and later, tried to sit in the box behind the driver (a place for passengers to put luggages or whatsoever). Since I was sitting close to where she was sitting I decided to got up and offer her my seat. The place she was sitting was obviously not comfortable to sit on. And me, trying to do some 'amal jariah' in this holy month of Ramadhan wouldn't mind to stand for a few minutes before reaching my stop.

Myself: "Do you want to have a seat?" (With a swweeeet smile, mind you)

Lady: "Oooh, that's fine. This place I'm sitting is the easiest to get out of the way."

Myself: "Are you sure? You can have the seat if you want."

Lady: "Yes! I NEVER had anyone offered me a seat before." (In a very loud voice)

" I MUST BE VERY OLD!!"

(A loud statement that can be heard by the whole bus, except the people on their iPODs, obviously)

BANGGG.... It felt like a bullet just go straight into the brain.Gosh, I can feel every eyes are on me at that time. It was totally embarrassing. She might have thought I'd offered her seat because she seems old and pretty sad bout this situation.

I should have known she would say that. Her looks already implementing that she doesn't like to be perceived as old. And yet, somebody offered her a seat like an old lady!
But one thing for sure, I didn't offer her the seat because she was old but the fact she was sitting in the luggage box, for crying out loud!

I was there thinking, 'Gosh, this people, can they just accept that they are people that are trying to be nice to them??'

I went back to sit and don't bother to offer anyone else a seat.
What a day!!

Careful People!

It’s that time of year!

Please be advised there have been several incidents of bird swooping across the campus in recent days..

Watch out for swooping birds
Swooping birds may be a frightening or even a dangerous experience. Native birds swoop in urban and rural areas, in parks and gardens, along bike tracks and in school yards, or anywhere the birds are nesting. By understanding why native birds swoop and how to avoid them, breeding season may be less stressful for people.

Why they swoop
Like most animals, magpies and other swooping birds instinctively protect their territory, particularly during breeding time. They are protecting their nests, eggs or young from potential intruders. Most birds will swoop within 30-50 meters of their nest. If they perceive you to be a potential threat, they may swoop. The likelihood of an attack is increased if they are teased or feel threatened in any way.

  • Swooping is the most common defence behavior. The birds' aim is to threaten or bluff and the intention is only to ward off intruders.
  • Beak clacking is part of their defence strategy.
  • In a strike attack, a magpie usually swoops, hovers momentarily and then strikes. The fluttering of wings as the bird hovers can be a warning to duck your head to avoid the attack.

Risks
Swooping birds can cause injuries. They usually attack with their beaks and aim for the scalp, face or eyes. If bike riders are swooped they could lose their balance, fall off, or ride into the path of cars. A bird swooping can be a frightening experience for children. Swooping birds can also spook horses.

Protection and avoidance
All native birds are protected under the Wildlife Act and there are serious penalties for taking, harassing or injuring native wildlife. It is illegal to kill birds, destroy their nests or eggs without a permit or authority.

There are ways to minimise attacks.

Ways to avoid swooping that may work

  • Avoid the swoop area – try walking or riding in a different direction.
  • Cyclists should always wear a helmet. It is better to dismount and walk your bike past a swoop area.
  • Travel in a group. Most birds only swoop individuals.
  • Be confident and face a swooping bird; usually they only attack people facing away from them.
  • Do not panic and run. It will only encourage a swooping bird to continue its attack.
  • Wear a hat in an area where there are swooping birds.
  • Magpies appear to be dissuaded from swooping when they are being watched, so try wearing a hat with 'eyes' painted on the back of it. Sunglasses worn backwards have a similar effect.
  • Holding a stick or umbrella over your head will often cause the bird to keep its distance.

Ways that do not tend to work

  • Do not harass, interfere or throw stones at birds as this only makes them more aggressive and defensive.
  • Do not destroy nests as the birds may re-nest and the breeding season extended.
  • Do not feed or befriend swooping birds.

Remember
Most birds swoop only during the nesting and rearing period. They are only trying to protect their territory, nests, eggs and young. Most swooping behavior is a form of bluffing. Birds rarely make contact when swooping

The information above has been sourced from www.dse.vic.gov.au/swoop.

If you are swooped on campus please advise Security so we can identify areas on campus of the greatest concern.

Finally!

Happy...happy...happy!!*wink*

After a loooong wait, finally my notebook, Dell Inspiron 1420 is here!! It arrived yesterday, a day earlier than expected, and it made me wear my happy grin all day long. I know I sounded like an excited kindergarten kid who just got her new Barbie doll . Indeed I feel like one! hehe.

I have to tell you guys, how frustrating it is when I do not have my own PC. Especially in this busy uni time of the year. Assignments, reports, presentation etc..etc, of which, all need the help of computer to be completed. And as we are living in the world that fully dependent on this technology, not having a computer is like living without shoes (what a comparison!). Imagine this, you can still walk without your shoes right? But it is a really inconvenience experience, walking around without some kind of protection for your feet. So, similar with computer, you still can live without it, but it just add on the miseries in your life (I'm talking through experience here =P).

Purchasing this notebook wasn't an exciting experience, either. After successfully ordered it online, I was expecting to halt the suffering of not having a notebook just within a week or if unlucky, maybe two weeks. Unfortunately, the company was having shortage of some parts of the notebook, and they had me waited for a MONTH!

I had to chase them (okay,.. not chasing as they kinda a virtual company), I had to call and send them emails to ask them about the progress of my order. The worst part is, they didn't even notify me about the long delay. Yes, they sent me email that the order was delayed and gave me a date of the expected delivery. But the date was two weeks before the actual delivery! With frustration and and annoyance, I called them and after a long conversation, the sales lady had put my order in the priority list. That basically means right after they received the parts, they gonna assemble mine first. Hurm, how genuine is that, I'm not really sure, but the main thing is I've got it with me now. *Grin*

With this notebook, I can say I'm pretty much satisfied with it. As you would already know, I'm not a pro when it comes to computers and all, so let just talk about the physical and look of the notebook first (which I'm good at hehe). The colour is pink, and I like this kind of shade as it doesn't look too girlish. But, the colour is only on the outside, so it is just for others to admire but not the user. The keyboard I would say is very comfortable for typing and the sound speaker isn't too bad. I always wanted a small and a light notebook, and with this model it satisfies both criteria. And most important the price is within the budget!

Okay, last but not least some info about the notebook:
Memory: 1Gb Hard Drive: 120Gb Processor: Intel® Centrino® Duo Processor Technology (1.5GHz) Operating system: Windows Vista

Overall, I think those specs are just suitable with the works I always do with the computer, no need of the extravagance specs. I hope now I can do my work in peace. By the way, did I mention I'm typing this entry with my new notebook?

Haha, okay enough of lame expressions.

Till then, ta!
